How to Get Started With One Piece Card Game: The Complete Guide
Share
One Piece Card Game is the official trading card game of the One Piece universe, published by Bandai since 2022. To get started, you need: a starter deck or a 50-card deck built around a Leader, a 10-card DON!! reserve, and an understanding of the basics (colors, rarity, the 4-copy limit).
What is One Piece Card Game?
One Piece Card Game is based on the manga and anime created by Eiichiro Oda. Two players face off, each led by a Leader (a card kept separate from the main deck) that determines the colors you can play and your starting life. Decks are built from Character, Event, and Stage cards drawn from Luffy's crew and the wider One Piece world.
The basics of a One Piece deck
A constructed One Piece Card Game deck is made up of:
- 1 Leader, which sets the playable colors (one or two among Red, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, and Yellow) and your starting life.
- 50 cards in the main deck (Characters, Events, Stages).
- 10 DON!! cards, the game's resource, kept in a separate deck that is never shuffled with the main deck.
One key rule to remember: you cannot include more than 4 copies of the same card in your deck (the Leader is unique and doesn't count toward this limit).
Where to start?
The easiest way to get started is to pick up a Starter Deck: a ready-to-play 51-card deck (Leader included), built around a clear strategy. It's the most affordable and fastest way to start playing without having to build a deck from scratch.
