Pokémon booster, display or ETB box: what's the difference?
Share
A Pokémon booster is a small pack of random cards, a display groups several boosters from the same set sold together, and an ETB (Elite Trainer Box) combines several boosters with accessories (card sleeves, tokens, dividers...). The right choice depends on whether you want to open a few cards, buy in bulk, or get a complete bundle with playing accessories.
The booster
This is the base unit: a small sealed pack containing a fixed number of cards from a given set, with a rarity breakdown set in advance. It's the most accessible format for discovering a new set.
The display
A display groups several boosters from the same set in a single original sealed package. It's the best option if you want to open a large number of boosters at once, for example to maximize your chances of pulling rare cards.
The ETB (Elite Trainer Box)
An ETB box goes further than a simple batch of boosters: it usually includes several boosters, plus useful accessories for playing (card sleeves, damage counters, dividers, sometimes a coin or a die). It's a good choice if you want both cards and playing accessories in one go.
Which format should you choose?
- Want to try a set without spending too much? A booster is enough.
- Want to open in bulk? Go for a display.
- Want playing accessories on top of the cards? The ETB is made for that.
