Riftbound Trading Card Game

Presentation

Riftbound brings the League of Legends universe to a trading card game. Rather than destroying an enemy Nexus like in the video game, the two players fight for control of battlefields: a tactical, territorial approach that sets it apart from more classic TCGs, driven by LoL's iconic champions.

Collection system

The Origins launch set introduces 12 main champions, each available as a highly sought-after Alt-Art card. The Origins booster contains 14 cards: 7 commons, 3 uncommons, 2 rare foils (or better), 1 foil of any rarity, and 1 token or rune slot.

Common

Bronze-colored frame and round rarity gem, the base of the Origins set.

Uncommon

A step above commons, on average 3 per Origins booster.

Rare (foil)

Guaranteed foil finish, at least 2 per Origins booster.

Epic

Sleek gold frame, full foil treatment and pentagonal gem — the highest functional tier, about 1 in 4 boosters.

Alt-Art / Overnumbered

Alternate artwork of the main champions, sometimes signed: the rarities most sought after by collectors.

Riftbound takes place in Runeterra, the fractured world that serves as the backdrop for League of Legends: realms as different as Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover and Zaun, or the Shadow Isles, each with its own culture, conflicts and ambitions. The playable champions — Ahri, Darius, Jinx, Teemo and many others — are the same iconic figures from the video game, with their own stories and motivations. Each Riftbound set explores a different facet of this world, through faction rivalries, champions' personal quests, and events that reshape the balance of power across Runeterra.

Here are the basics to play your first game.

  1. 1. Build your deck

A 56-card main deck (units, spells, gear), 3 battlefields, 12 runes used as a resource, and up to 10 cards in the sideboard.

  2. 2. Choose your Legend champion

It determines your deck's domains (colors) and starts visible on the board.

  3. 3. Generate your energy

Exhaust (turn sideways) your runes to produce energy and pay for cards; they straighten up again next turn.

  4. 4. Conquer battlefields

Send your units to take control of zones instead of attacking a Nexus: each conquered battlefield earns 1 point, holding it for a full turn earns one more.

  5. 5. Win the game

The first player to reach 8 points wins the game.
